About the gathering
Storytelling is a precious, ancient art form that is woven into every culture as a way to pass down wisdom, preserve culture, spark imagination and bring people together. These days, it seems pretty rare that we get to gather around a fire and just listen to the experiences or imaginings of one another.
To cultivate both the art of storytelling and a space for us to come and step into each other’s worlds, we host a monthly storytelling event at Jai. It’s called Lau Hai Fung, the Thai way of asking someone to tell a story. It translates to “tell so I may listen” — which we think is pretty beautiful as it acknowledges that an important part of this ancient tradition is also our ability to listen.
